Who is Inmetro?
The Brazilian Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) is responsible for managing the Conformity Assessment Programs in Brazil, within the scope of the Brazilian Conformity Assessment System (SBAC). It operates in the regulation of products, processes and services, focusing on the safety and protection of Brazilian society and the environment, preventing misleading trade practices, promoting competitiveness and fair competition in the market. Through the General Product Certification Requirements (RGCP) - Portaria No. 200:2021, Inmetro defines which products and services must be regulated, each scope in accordance with its own Portaria, standards and laws.
What is OCP?
The Product Certification Body (OCP) is an entity accredited by Inmetro. In other words, the OCP is recognized and accredited by Inmetro to act within its scope of services. It is responsible for evaluating the product subject to certification, through audits and documentary analyses.
How long does the certification process take?
The deadline for the complete Inmetro certification process is, on average, 2 to 3 months. However, it will depend on the type of product, the documentation presented for analysis, as well as the necessary laboratory tests. Contact us to learn more!
